Smooth Summer Camp Send Offs

Wow, how time flies! Here we are again just a few short weeks away from Summer.

Finally, it has started to wind down after a full schedule of tests and school events. You can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

If you haven’t already selected your camp, the good news is that it is not too late. Many camps still have availability for the full summer or shorter stays.

Have you already registered? Great! We like to share a few tips with every email, so here are a few things we have learned to help make your send-off less stressful:

Besides the basics, camps should have provided you with a list of things you need. Don’t wait until the last minute to start buying and setting aside supplies. Be sure to take advantage of upcoming sales!

We need to prep our first-timers. Give your child positive reinforcement when they handle things independently. Be excited about the new friends and experiences they are about to gain. Perhaps you can arrange a few more sleepovers to get him or her comfortable with sleeping away from home.

If this isn’t the first time your child is going away, talk about last summer. Kids learn a lot about different family cultures when they are away. They also have a tendency to be more open as time passes. Now is a great time to chat about things they learned last summer and provide your own insight.

While it has been busy time working with many new and repeat clients, I still have time for you. Please do not hesitate to call me or refer a friend. Don’t forget that Summer Camp 2015 consultations are booked at no charge and no obligation to you.
